When Papa eats, he REALLY eats. But with every meal he must have an overall combo. For each kind of food there is a perfect companion. For example, Pan con Bistec isn’t a Pan con Bistec if it isn’t topped with shoestring potatoes. Try and serve him one of these delicious steak sandwiches without the shoestring potatoes and he will turn away and starve, or grab a bowl of cereal. Men and their must have combos.
Just like when I took J-bird to NYC for college. We decided to not lug too much from home since we were flying over there. Instead we opted to do most of the shopping for the things he would need once we arrived. We headed over to one of the big chains stores to get as much as we could get done in one shopping trip. When we reached the toiletries aisle, I started to pick out soaps, shampoos, etc for him. None of what I had selected was okay’d by him.
I was surprised to learn that just throwing together different brands and scents was not okay. It was NOT okay just because he was a guy. J-bird looked at me like I had 10 heads on my shoulders. If he was going to wash with a certain scent, then it had to be coordinated with the other products he would be using. Thus enhancing his overall “smell” when he was ready to head out onto the campus and interact with the “females”.
Seems everyone has time for and preferences for #Combos4Success. Even Old Spice is making it easy for the men in your life to look and smell their best. They’ve released some of the most hilarious mandroid videos I have seen in my life. So, if they can get a mandroid to smell like the best smelling man ever, despite him not entirely being a man himself, then surely it should do the job on the men in our lives, right?
Now that J-bird will be on his own, including shopping for himself, I am quite proud that I have taught him the importance of using coupons and saving money. He shows me his proud moments when he’s saved money, that he earned himself this summer, on his favorite combos using coupons he downloads off the internet.
I never realized that J-bird cared so much about impressing the “ladies” on campus. It’s all about “swagger” apparently. Never once had I thought that a guy would want to have his antiperspirants and deodorant, body wash + 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, all work together in one beautifully smelling and harmonious combo. All of course which lead him to smell like he just stepped out of a cover shoot for a magazine.
